Lily Allen Formed Her Own Record Label Backed by Sony Music
According to Rolling Stone Lily Allen and Sony Music are joining forces so that Allen can launch her own record label.
Later this year, the British singer’s label will release its first record, from the debut album by the Brooklyn art pop band Cults.
It was previously reported that Cults had signed on with Sony’s Columbia Records, but Allen’s reps confirmed on Thursday that she will be in charge of the label and signed the band herself.
Allen was pursued by numerous companies to launch her boutique label and she ultimately chose Sony, who won the bidding war and will reportedly pay her £100,000 salary for heading the imprint.
