Prince said Monday he was impressed by his respectful French fans when he performed in Paris Sunday. The superstar asked concertgoers to not use their cell phones to record his performance, to which they complied unlike their “obsessed with technology” American counterparts, reports ContactMusic.

Prince said he doesn’t like fans putting footage on the web because of the poor quality, according to American Free Press. He went on to say he doesn’t like fans giving the footage to someone like YouTube, which is “run by Universal Publishing, and some of those lawyers.”

Prince, 51, performed in the Grand Palais exhibition center Sunday, a Paris landmark that’s never been used as a formal concert venue. Prince decided to use the venue for the Sunday performances after visiting for Paris Fashion Week and “falling in love” with the building.

When asked by reporters how he felt about the Paris shows, Prince said, “They were my favourite so far. I always try to outdo the different shows that I've done.”
