Polanski's Victim Wants Charges Dropped

Roman Polanski’s victim is now asking to drop the director's long-stemming charges.
Samantha Geimer was 13 when Polanski was accused of raping her after giving her champagne and part of a Quaalude. Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful sexual intercourse. She sued Polanski in 1988 and was supposed to receive $500,000 from the director. There’s no word if she was paid or not.
Lawrence Silver, Geimer’s attorney, wants a California Appeals Court to dismiss all criminal charges against the director.
Geimer now lives in Hawaii. Silver’s court filing said: “The pursuit has caused her to have health-related issues. The pursuit has caused her performance at her job to be interfered with and has caused the understandable displeasure of her employer and the real possibility that Samantha could lose her job.”
The filing ends with: “Leave her alone.”
Geimer has wanted to end the case but Steve Cooley, Los Angeles County’s District Attorney said, “The charges can’t be dropped because the law requires a conclusion to the court case.”
Cooley claims his office wants to resolve the case and not persecute Polanski.
