U2 have announced a free gig in front of Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The performance is part of the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards, which will also feature performances by Foo Fighters, Tokio Hotel, Jay-Z, and Green Day.
"This year's Awards will be remembered as the night when the world's major music players came together against the backdrop of the fall of the Berlin Wall to celebrate music, freedom and the birth of a new age in Europe," Anthony Campo Dall'Orto, Executive Producer for the MTV Europe Music Awards, said in a statement.
Tickets to the free show are available on the band’s website.
Too bad they couldn’t get David Hasselhoff. Perhaps the “Baywatch” star had a previous engagement with “America’s Got Talent.”
