Jack White’s record label, Third Man, will release the single “A Glorious Dawn” on Nov. 7 featuring physicist Stephen Hawking, reports NME.
The 7-inch vinyl single features an auto-tuned remix of Carl Sagan’s dialogue from his 1980s television series “Cosmos,” according to TwentyFourBit. The Auto-Tuned remix, which features Hawking, gained notoriety this fall when composer John Boswell posted it on YouTube.
“The release is timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Sagan’s birth,” Third Man wrote on their website Nov 2. “Also happening that day is a reception in United States’ Congress with speeches by senators, NASA officials and assorted scientists, all hosted by the Planetary Society, which was co-founded by Sagan.”
Third Man will also be offering 150 limited-edition “Cosmos Colored Vinyl” versions of the single, which includes an etching from the 1977 Voyager Golden Record, which was sent into space. Fifty will randomly be included with mail orders, and the remaining will be sold at the label’s Nashville headquarters.
