A smorgasbord of music acts will come together to honor rock legend, and 2010’s MusiCares Person of the Year, Neil Young.
Rolling Stone reports that the Person of the Year gala will take place Jan. 29 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event honors Young’s musical and philanthropic work, including roles in Farm Aid and the Bridge School benefit concerts.
Artists showing their support to Young include the Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Mellencamp, Dave Matthews, Wilco, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Jackson Browne, Norah Jones, James Taylor, Sheryl Crow, k.d. lang, Emmylou Harris, Josh Groban, and more. Both Matthews and Mellencamp are on Farm Aid’s board of directors along with Young.
Past MusiCares Person of the Year honorees include Bono, Brian Wilson, Billy joel, Aretha Franklin, and most recently Neil Diamond, reports Consequence of Sound.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will make their first appearance after announcing they’re on a hiatus. Lead singer Anthony Kiedis was honored last May by MusiCares for his work with the MAP Fund, which helps drug addicts with recovery.
