Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens, plans to make a comeback to pop music with his first full tour since 1976, reports Reuters.
"Thirty-three years is a long time, and I suppose I never imagined that I'd be going back on tour again," Islam told Reuters.
The singer was inspired by his recent recordings to embark on a full tour. Islam assured fans that old classics will be played on tour as well as new material from his previous two albums, as well as material from "Moonshadow," a musical he's been writing.
Islam discussed the change to digitization in his interview with Reuters, noting how easy it is to record albums. The singer expressed the importance of bringing live music to an audience and how it's especially important today, when modern technology makes it easy for artists to record at home.
"The real material stuff and the physical stuff has become so kind of virtual that it's not real, quite simply, and that's why the road thing -- getting on the road -- is so important because it's real," said Islam.
