Canadian folk musician Joel Plaskett won two awards at the Canadian Country Music Awards Saturday, Exclaim reports.

Pleskett lead the nominations with four, and won for contemporary album on the year and producer of the year.

While he isn’t well known in the United States, Plaskett has had his fair share of success in Canada. He appeared in the movie One Week, starting Joshua Jackson, as a street busker. His song “Through and Through and Though,” off his album 3, has dominated Canadian music charts and airwaves.

The awards show also featured a tribute to Taylor Mitchell, the Toronto singer-songwriter who was killed by coyotes last month. She was nominated for young performer of the year. The winner, Ariana Gillis, dedicated her win to Mitchell.
