The Strokes have announced that they are back in the studio recording the follow-up album to First Impressions of Earth, released in 2006.
The yet-untitled album marks the band’s fourth studio LP. On their website, the band revealed that they are recording at Avatar Studios in New York City. They also announced that they are collaborating with Grammy award winning producer Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, The White Stripes) and engineer Gus Oberg. The website urges fans to stay tuned for video vignettes from the studio to be posted.
Lead singer Julian Casablancas has expressed doubts about the album in the past. In a 2009 interview with SPIN Magazine, he explained that the band was in “disagreement as to whether the songs [were] ready.”
But a January interview found Casablancas more confident in the project.
“I think we’re fulfilling the promise of what we said we were: actually being a unit who works on everything,” he said.
