Website Redesign Includes New Audio & Video Media Players
With Exclusive Programming to Satisfy Fans’ Pop Culture Appetites
LOS ANGELES, CA – On January 12, 2007, Shout! Factory relaunched the company’s entertainment and e-commerce website, ShoutFactory.com, offering visitors an array of online amenities including two streaming media players and exclusive original programming such as Shout! Popcast, Shout! TV, PopVision and Mumblepuss Theatre, along with updated shopping tools, a new Shout! Factory podcast page, games, blogs, a bulletin board, news and business-to-business services.
Designers at Creative Asylum were charged with developing a new site that harmoniously blends entertainment and commerce while reinforcing Shout! Factory’s image as an off-beat company specializing in classic pop culture entertainment.
“Shout Factory is proud to manage the legacies of such important musical artists as Herb Alpert and Solomon Burke and such entertainment lines as SCTV and The Dick Cavett Show,” said Melissa Boag, VP of Marketing. “This new website format will enable us to better honor the complete works of this talent pool and to cross-pollinate fanbases where appropriate. It will also allow us to better connect to and serve customers of Shout! Factory.”
Key features of the new ShoutFactory.com include:
• Media Players & Original Entertainment: Shout! Factory’s new website will boast a custom-built flash media player, dressed in a retro TV skin, and an embedded audio player which will enable culture vultures to take in hours of original streaming content, including the following web-exclusives:
o Shout! TV: Mining the label’s extensive library of classic and cult television, Shout! TV will stream content from the label’s DVD releases, including newly created bonus material as well as episodes and outtakes from your favorite shows.
o PopVision: An original, magazine format pop culture program, PopVision will begin streaming on ShoutFactory.com in Spring 2007.
• Podcast Page: The new site will also include a page of Shout! Factory podcasts for pop culture junkies on the go. The page launches with the following downloads:
o Shout! Popcast: This half-hour music and pop culture podcast will focus on a different Shout! Factory recording artist each week with behind-the-scenes stories, alternate takes, rare tracks and b-sides not available on CD releases.
o Mumblepuss Theatre: This monthly download combines celebrity gossip, comedy and left-of-center commentary.
• Games & Community: A key to connecting Shout! Factory’s diverse fanbase, the redesigned site will offer a wealth of opportunities for fans to interact – with each other, the label, and their favorite shows and artists – via a message board, blogs, interactive games and a newsletter archive.
• Storefront & E-Commerce: Enhanced online shopping is a major development in the updated site. Shoppers can browse through more sophisticated product pages, order via a secure server, or find a retailer by zip code using the first ever link-up with the Almighty Institute of Music Retail’s database. Shout! Factory is the first label to secure access to Almighty’s robust technology for use by consumers.
• Business-to-Business: Future enhancements to the site will include password protected areas for the storage and dissemination of sales, marketing and publicity information and assets.
